In Year 10 sets 1, 2, 3 & 4 will follow the OCR Gateway Core Science GCSE leading to the award of a GCSE grade in Science at the end of the year. Sets 5 & 6 will follow the OCR Entry Level Certificate in Science.
Any student who wishes to study Sciences at A-level would be advised to take the additional option in Science leading to the award of 3 separate Science GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the end of Year 11.
In Year 11 sets 1, 2, 3 & 4 will follow either the OCR Gateway Additional Science GCSE or the AQA Additional Applied Science GCSE depending on whether they are following an academic or vocational pathway. Both these Science GCSEs lead to the award of a GCSE at the end of Year 11.
