information using Powerpoint. You will focus on purpose and target evidence.
Modelling - Spreadsheets using Excel and writing formulae creating graphs in Excel
Unit 2: Information and
Presentation.
Searching the Internet and
databases, looking at
reliability, validity and bias.

Unit 5: Data Handling.
Creating databases in Access,
searching databases and
creating reports.

Unit 3: Processing text and
images using Paint and Photoshop
to work with different images.
Creating logos. Creating a leaflet in Publisher.

Unit 6: Data logging and control.
Students use sensors to collect data.
They use Flowol to create
programs to control traffic
lights.

Year 8

Public Information Systems. Students look at different types of media and ways of presenting information. They create a Powerpoint presentation.

Web publishing. Students create a web site.

Unit 10: Information
Students learn to find information on the Internet and Encarta. Focus is on the reliability, validity, accuracy and bias of information.

Unit 11: Students create a database. They learn to create forms, queries and reports.

Unit 12: Year 8 major project.

Students use all Microsoft programs to organise a school trip.

Students use all ICT packages to develop their skills.
They use Publisher, Powerpoint, Excel and Access.

Students begin working on GCSE coursework task:
“Presenting Information” - create a leaflet/newsletter for a major
company of their choice.

GCSE

Students will study the AQA GCSE Full Course in ICT. This is a nationally recognised course leading to a single GCSE at grades A to G.

This course will develop:

• Your interest in ICT
• Allow you to study a subject that is relevant to your own life and experiences
• Your ability to apply ICT skills and knowledge
• Allow you to study ICT at a higher level in future

Each student will have access to a computer for every ICT lesson and will need to be prepared to work hard throughout the two years.
