Base Line Assessment—’Geography’ - nothing to do with me?!
Basic locational knowledge. Who are we? Where are we? How do we fit in? Learn how to use maps and satellite images.
East Anglia and Norfolk. What makes a place special? What gives somewhere an identity? Skills—photo interpretation. Literacy—extended writing & level 5 answers.
Numeracy—climate graphs.
Thetford - A Special Place (Assessment)
Basic coastal processes:

GCSE Geography not for you? Think again……. GCSE Geography might be a good option for you.
So think and talk to your parents and teachers before you decide not to do it.

What will you be opting for?

Year 10: My Place: What makes Norfolk special? What is Thetford like? Why is Thetford ‘a dump’? What do you want to do about it?

Alaska: What makes Alaska an extreme place? How are extreme landscapes used for extreme sports? How do people and animals survive? What is global warming doing to Alaska?

Shopping: Where do we shop? Why? What is Fair Trade? How are local people affected by your shopping choices? How are other countries affected?

One piece of coursework on each.

Exam: In May the exam board will send a booklet of information to school. We look at it in class. In June you take the booklet into the gym and answer questions.

Year 11: Two pieces of coursework chosen from a variety of options, eg. Leisure and Tourism, flooding, geography in the news, transport,
GIS …..and more!

There is no exam in Year 11 so you will have no mock exam or revision classes in Year 11.
